2020 Peaks & Creeks Calendar

Weekly Events Update!

Catch up on our new process for the 2020 Elections with added positions!

STEP 1 NOMINATIONS (October 1-16th)
Current 2020 Peaks & Creeks Tagholders (folks who purchased a tag) may nominate any other 2020 Tagholder for consideration to be on the board of directors for the 2021 Club Year. You can nominate someone in the comments section of this post on Facebook or in a response to a coming email containing the same information in this post. A nominee can accept or reject their nomination as they choose. Nominations will be accepted starting today through the 16th of October. [We have previously required nominations to be seconded in order for them to stand, however we have eliminated the seconding process for 2020 for greater ease during the virtual process].
Step 2 NOMINEE STATEMENTS (Oct 17-29th)
All nominees who have accepted a nomination should draft and submit their own written statement presenting their case to be elected to the board. These may include your credentials, goals for the club, the skills you may bring to the board and other like, relevant information you find necessary. These will be made public to the club so that they can make an informed decision. We will attempt to conduct a meeting of nominees on October 30th in case nominees would like to ask questions of the current board of directors to assess the positions, duties and responsibilities they may eventually inherit.
Step 3 ELECTION (Oct 30th – Nov 13th)
We will publish the Nominee Statements to the 2020 Tagholders both on Facebook and on our Email Chain on October 30th. The Election will begin on Oct 31st when we will send out a link through a secure online survey platform (ie survey monkey or google forms) to our current member email list. The Election survey will be open Oct 31st through Nov 13th. Tagholders should cast a vote for 5 nominees of their choosing (you may vote for fewer than 5 nominees if you wish but no more than 5). Once the survey is closed on Nov 13th no additional votes may be cast and the results will be published the weekend of November 14th-15th. Ties for the 5th highest number of votes will be settled with a subsequent run off (eg 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, T-5 a runoff will be needed to determine a true 5th and 6th place). Ties within the top 4 will not need to be settled as both of the tied nominees will be elected to the board (eg 1st, 2nd, T-4, 5th)
Step 4 TRANSITION (Nov 16th – Dec 31st)
The newly appointed board of directors will meet on their own accord and vote amongst themselves to determine positions and responsibilities within the board for the coming year and to execute the transition from the 2020 leadership team to the 2021 leadership team.
NEW CONCEPT – MEMBERS AT LARGE
DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED IF YOU ARE NOT ELECTED TO THE BOARD. The 2020 Board will be encouraging the 2021 Board to appoint at least 5 “Members At-Large” who will be given greater opportunities to assist in the execution of club activities and duties. This is an idea we are borrowing from Roanoke disc golf as they have a leadership team and several members at large. They have found this is great in helping ensure there is always someone responsible around to help and it allows non-board members to gain valuable experience within the club that might help them get elected in the future. All nominees should be considered for these at large positions.
***Please understand there is a general commitment of time and effort expected of would be board members. There is no shame in rejecting your nomination or subsequent election if you feel you cannot truly make those commitments.
*** Direct your questions to any 2020 Board member.
